How to fix a Computer that Freezes or Crashes

Here are some basic steps on how to fix a computer that freezes or crashes!

  1. Update your drivers: Outdated drivers can cause all sorts of problems, including freezing and crashing. Make sure all that all drivers are up-to-date.
  2. Adjust power plan settings for your hard disk: Sometimes, adjusting the power plan settings for the hard disk can help prevent freezing.
  3. Delete temp files: Temp files can accumulate over time and cause issues with your computer. Try deleting them to see if it helps.
  4. Repair system files: Corrupted system files can cause all sorts of problems, including freezing and crashing. Try repairing them using built-in tools.
  5. Adjust your virtual memory: If the computer is running low on memory, adjusting the virtual memory settings can help prevent freezing.
  6. Run Windows Memory Diagnostic: If you suspect that the RAM might be causing the issue, try running the Windows Memory Diagnostic tool.
  7. Check the computer fans: Make sure all of the computer fans are turning and free of dust – which can cause overheating.
  8. Perform a system restore: If all else fails, you can try performing a system restore to a point before the freezing or crashing started happening.

By following one or more of these steps, you should be able to fix most issues with a computer that keeps freezing or crashing. Remember to always keep your drivers and software up-to-date to prevent future issues.
